We are supporting the BC Criterium Championships here in Victoria on July 16, 202 with our continuing strong volunteer club spirit, The club benefits in a couple of ways from our volunteer support.
One of Tripleshot's strengths is our volunteer support to our club and community volunteer opportunities.
This year, the Grand Prix is limited to just the BC Criterium Championship, which will be held around the BC Legislature.
A criterium is a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit of 1km. Race length is determined by the number of laps or total time, in which case the number of remaining laps is calculated as the race progresses. Generally, the race durations are 1 hour or less but with higher average speeds and intensity compared to traditional road cycling races. The winner is the first rider to cross the finish line without having been "lapped".
The job and time commitments for volunteering are listed below.
Course Setup - Sunday, July 16 from 6 am to 8 am
Course Teardown - Sunday, July 16 from 4 pm to 5 pm

Here is a link to a good video https://www.victoriabikerace.com to inspire you to volunteer, you may feel the Tour de France atmosphere here in Victoria!
You will witness Elite Athletes competing here in Victoria. Some notable cyclists who have raced in past Grand Prix events in Victoria include: Ryder Hesjedal, Rob Britton, Alison Sydor, Gillian Carlton, Ryan Anderson, Geoff Kabush, Melanie McQuaid, Roland Green, Andreas Hestler, Andrew Pinfold, Gina Grain, Lesley Tomlinson, Sarah Neil......many who have become Olympians, World Champions, Professional Athletes, and even a Grand Tour Win.
Defending BC Champion, Al Murison, plans to return to Victoria to defend his title with support from his new La Bicicletta cycling team. However, the Red Truck Racing Team will be putting their efforts to have their racer, Daniel Faser-Maraun take the championship.
In the U23 men's age category, we expect to see fireworks on the men's side between Evan Russell (Global Six) and Campbell Parish (Red Truck Racing). A rising star in BC and the new Junior National Time Trial Champion, Matthew Ney, will be looking for vindication from his 2nd place at last year's BC Championship. He is the clear favourite to win and is expected to put on an impressive show of speed and power.
On the women's side, local rider and Canadian National Team Track Racer, Erin Attwell (Tripleshot Youth Team), aims to keep the Elite Women's BC Champion jersey on her shoulders as she battles against riders such as Brenna Pauly and the Red Truck Women's Racing Team. Another Star, Mara Rolden (Red Truck Racing), is motivated to return from injury to battle for the U23 Women's Title. Victoria's very own Kimberley Chen (Tripleshot Youth Team) is expected to continue her streak of success by going for her 2nd consecutive junior girls BC Criterium Championship title. Other Junior Team Members and Tripleshot club members will be racing, come cheer or even better volunteer to get right at the action!
Cheers
