Hi, fellow cycling enthusiasts; a small group of us (all members of Tripleshot) are organizing the third annual Terry Fox Ride of Hope, which will run on June 30 this year. I'm posting to help spread the word. Registration is now open (and is free).
Register by May 10th to be eligible to download a free 7-week training plan and be entered to win prizes! The information is as follows:
About the ride
We will be offering two routes on paved roads around the capital region. The longer route is 143km, inspired by the 143 consecutive days Terry ran in his Marathon of Hope before being forced to stop when his cancer returned. We will also offer a shorter route of 72km. Note his is an unsupported ride, go at your own pace, with route maps supplied. The routes will be posted a week before the event, pending an assessment of road construction activities. We'll begin at the Trek Bicycle Store in Vic West, stopping near the end at Terry Fox Memorial on Dallas Road (at Mile Zero).
Registration is free.  Instead, we ask riders to raise what they can to support the Terry Fox Foundation. All fundraising goes directly to the Foundation. Since the inception of the Ride of Hope, to date Team Victoria has proudly raised close to $20,000 for cancer research. For 2024, our fundraising goal is $14,300.
Rider incentives
Training plans: We offer a rider preparation training plan tailored to the Victoria area for each 143km and 72km distance.
Prizes: We have received generous support from some of our local businesses and will randomly offer prizes to those participating in the fundraising efforts.
